Modern Awards and the National Employment Standards (NES)
The Fair Work Commission has published new versions of various awards as part of their 4-yearly review of awards.
Copies of the latest awards are available at the Fair Work Commission website at
Modern awards list | FWC Main Site
It is important to note the following in relation to Awards and the NES
All modern awards include a provision that state the employer must ensure that copies of the relevant award and the NES are available to all employees to whom they apply either on a noticeboard which is conveniently located at or near the workplace or through electronic means, whichever makes them more accessible.
Keeping up to date
All employers are required to keep up to date with changes to modern awards.
National Employment Standards
The National Employment Standards (NES) are 11 minimum terms and conditions of employment that apply to national workplace relations system employees. The NES are minimum standards that cannot be overridden by terms of enterprise agreements or awards.
A document titled, ”Introduction to the National Employment Standards” is attached.
